The Differences between Web Page and Website

You will often hear the words website and Domenca web page when using and browsing the internet. But while these two terms seem related and with many people using them interchangeably, the truth is that websites and web pages have a lot of key differences.

What is a Webpage?

Web pages are defined as the solitary page or single document of a website. All web pages are attached to the unique URL address that is used to access or render that specific page.  These web pages and URLs can either be public or private that depends on how these were configured by their developers.

All web browsers can actually be used for navigating URLs that the users can copy and share. Viewing websites doesn’t often require any navigation if you have its URL address. But, many URLs are actually connected to the site that helps developers come up with the right structured user interface and sitemap. It helps with SEO or search engine optimization as well. 

Web pages are made with the use of different languages for programming based on the specific platform used for development. Among the most common languages for programming include HTML, Perl, PHP, Python, and others. 

HTML web pages are known to load faster and also boast of a clean and simple appearance. But, JavaScript and CSS help create more interactive web pages with validations. Aside from this, a web page usually includes several kinds of resources to make them more eye-catching and interactive. There are two primary types of web pages and these are dynamic web pages and static web pages. 

What is a Website?

Websites are a collection of various web pages that are linked together with the use of hyperlinks. Every webpage is linked under one domain for unique identification of the website. A website is the primary source of connecting the hyperlinks to several sections and the sections might further include several other related web pages. 

Similar to web pages, it is also easy for people to navigate any site with the use of web browser and enter the domain address. A website also follows similar programming languages for development that are necessary for webpage development. But, the process of website development tends to be more complex not to mention that it also takes more time. 

A website is typically divided into two primary categories namely interactive and static. Static sites are meant to share resources and information without the interaction and involvement with visitors. An interactive website allows visitor to engage in an interaction with the rest of the members while the author uses the chatbox, comment box, article posting, and others. Among the most popular and common categories include ecommerce websites, social networking websites, dating websites, affiliate websites, and others. 

Take note that websites typically include several web pages aside from the homepage, blog, support, contact, about, downloads, products, forum, and others. However, there are times when websites could be developed with one entity content with no hyperlinks. This kind of websites is called single-page website.
